Reflecting on the ways in which innovation is possible and the benefits it can bring\, participants will also consider the overwhelming and urgent imperative to innovate arising from our changing oceans.

SUMMARY:Agile-Lean Ireland presents: Barry O'Reilly - Designing for Business Evolution
DESCRIPTION:Description \nYou are cordially invited to our amazing August meetup. We’re back with a bang! How do you top the ALI2017 conference? How about by getting the brilliant Barry O’Reilly\, co-author of Lean Enterprise\, as our August meetup speaker! \nTalk: Designing for Business Evolution \nTo evolve businesses\, leverage technology and exceed customer expectations\, organizations need more than a leap of faith. They need to design for it. \nIn this talk\, I share how I’ve been using practices and principles from design thinking\, lean and agile to help organizations design for continuous evolution and become experimental by design. \nDesigners routinely use methods such as hypothesis testing\, customer journey mapping and enquiry to uncover and resolve complex challenges. But they fail to realize how those skills and capabilities can be leveraged beyond product development alone. \nThrough case studies and examples from the organizations I work with I showcase the value of design and designers. These organizations understand that design isn’t just about user interfaces and pixels — it influences everything. I share concrete tools and techniques that drive culture change and business performance\, and challenge teams to rethink the role they can play in creating high performance organizations.

He has focused on adapting these concepts for SMEs\, working closely with a large number of SMEs helping them to implement improvement actions. An author of several books on the topics\, he is a lecturer at Trinity College. He has led the DG Enterprise & Industry Benchmarking Initiative and the European Benchmarking Forum and Network\, for the European Commission. \nPARTICIPATION FEE – GRANT – GUARANTEE – CANCELLATION \nThe EU-Japan Centre covers all costs directly related to the mission (i.e. lectures and seminars\, group study trips\, including travel outside Tokyo). \nThe participants’ companies must cover travel costs to/from Japan\, accommodation and any other costs not covered directly by the EU-Japan Centre (living expenses). \nSMEs (*): \nParticipation is free.
