SUMMARY:WIT Lean Practitioner Seminar Series 15/01/20 (LEAN IN MICRO & SMALL ENTERPRISES - STARTING AND BEYOND)
DESCRIPTION:About the Speaker\nDave Mitchell is the RIKON Centre Commercial Manager with responsibility for Lean and Operational Excellence. He manages and delivers Business Process Improvement and Lean Business Model projects to a variety of organisations in services and manufacturing. Dave has over 25 years’ operational management experience in the private sector. He believes that the adoption of Lean is situational and different in every organisation with the involvement of people being key to sustainable success. His experience with SMEs throughout his career has shown him both the potential benefits and the opportunities for Lean adoption together with the value it can create. A recent graduate from the WIT Master of Business in Lean Enterprise Excellence\, Dave also holds qualifications in Business Systems Analysis\, Scrum Project Management\, and is a PRINCE practitioner. \nAbout the Topic\n\nLean was\, for a long time\, incorrectly portrayed as the domain of large manufacturing organisations. Dave will dispel this myth and show how Operational Excellence can be achieved in any Micro/Small business using a Lean approach. You will be introduced to the principles of Lean in plain language and shown how you can get started on the path to adopting it in a sustainable way. We will look at how supply chains are being impacted and how Lean will impact as we progress through the 4th Industrial Revolution. \nThere will also be the opportunity to gain some practical experience through some simple workshop exercises that show the benefits in terms of improving your business. \nNo prior knowledge is required – just an open mind and a desire to optimise your business.
